Local Guide FAQ

What do you recommend in the Yatsugatake area (places, experiences, food)?

The Kiyosato area at the foot of Yatsugatake is still recommended!
It is also an area where many delicious breads are gathered. From hard to soft breads of various textures are gathered here.
I especially recommend "Megane" in Kiyosato and "Compre-do" in Oizumi-cho.
Enjoy them with milk from Yatsugatake.

Please sneak in some hole-in-the-wall places that you know because you live there.

Les quatre saison" is a small cake shop in the neighboring town of Fuji, Nagano Prefecture.
It looks like something out of a picture book, and when you open the door, you are greeted with the aroma of "happiness. (I personally describe it as the aroma of bread and cakes being cooked...)
As the name suggests, the shop is based on the theory of the changing seasons, so you will find a wide variety of sweets, from the standard shortcake to sweets made with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Please note that they sell out in the evening.
This is a great store that I really don't want to tell you about.

Where did you travel to last year and with whom?

I traveled to Kanazawa with a friend from college.
We eat here all the time, but what I cherish most are the conversations we have with the locals.
I was particularly impressed by our encounters with the itamae-san at the Omi Market and the fu shopkeepers in Higashi Chayamachi.
I take a 2-day/1-night trip once every 3 months. Recently, I went to Hakone and Matsumoto. Since I spent my college days in Nagoya, I travel to visit friends who have spread their wings across the country.

What do you do on your days off?

I just love to eat delicious food, so I eat from morning till night.
Sometimes I eat a little too much, but I keep my stomach empty with moderate exercise.
Since I am usually serving in a Restaurant, I am also relatively active on my days off, such as going out to other prefectures to gather information for my studies, and becoming friends with local people by getting to know them completely.

 Coffee
Is there anything you always take with you on a trip?

A foldable windbreaker!
I always take it with me even on short trips that take about an hour by car.
I use it as a good-luck charm so that I don't panic in case of sudden rain or climate change. You can also enjoy the dolphin show at the aquarium without worrying.
